It has a knurled toe push that is sprung loaded, smooth and a polished finish.
If your old grey lever has lost all it's paint - then it's about time you spent a bit of money on the ol' girl! It does stay in against the case sometimes "when you fall" so, the paintwork can take a bit of a knock.
